Embracing the Real U Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching

Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching for women who are stressed out, anxious and exhausted.

At the end of 2008, I started having pain all over my body. The pain was so bad that I felt like crying at times. It felt like what I thought arthritis pain would feel like. I was laid off at the time so I wasn't able to see a doctor until July 2009. That's when I was diagnosed as having fibromyalgia. My doctor offered me a prescription and she said that I could choose whether I filled it or not.

Once I came home and read about all the side effects of the medication, I chose not to fill the prescription. I thought there had to be some other way than taking a pill to help.

Some days I felt more like my old self while other days I really had to drag myself through the day. Along with the pain, I started having trouble digesting my food. Several hours after I had eaten, it would still feel like all my food was just sitting in there.

Soon after I started having those issues, I started having trouble sleeping and falling asleep. On nights that I didn't have those problems, I awoke the next day feeling as if I had never gone to sleep.

Then I started having trouble remembering things. I started having trouble finding the words when I wanted to say something to someone . That really scared me because I had always had a great memory.

In 2014, after going to see a functional medicine practitioner I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue and fibromyalgia. She gave me some supplements which seemed to work but I could not continue to see her because of the cost.

It wasn't until 2016 when I started reading FibroFix by Dr. David Brady that I found that I had been misdiagnosed. All the symptoms of fibromyalgia that were mentioned in his book did not fit what I was going through but I had mostly all of the symptoms of adrenal fatigue or adrenal dysfunction as it is now known.

Being a co-guardian to my brother with autism, I have not always put myself first and I think that partly lead to me developing adrenal dysfunction. The other factors I think led to my adrenal dysfunction were having a great deal of financial stress, being a still recovering perfectionist and not making sleep a priority.

Even though I am still on my healing journey, I chose to become a Certified Transformational Nutrition Coach so I could help women to learn to put themselves first so they do not end up exhausted like I did.
