Who we are...

Kara Cummings, BS, ERYT, YACEP, C-IAYT (Owner)
Kara has a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and physical anthropology, is an experienced yoga teacher at the 500 hour level (ERYT-500), a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP), and a professional Yoga Therapist certified by the International Association of yoga Therapy, a Certified Personal Trainer, and Director of Studio 33's very own 200 and 300 hour Yoga Alliance approved, Teacher Training Program, as well as a the Lead Trainer at "The Melting Spot's" 200/300 hour Yoga Teacher Training program in Owasso, OK. She is also certified to teach Aerial Yoga/Sling and Core Barre.
Kara began her exploration with yoga in 1997 while living in Austin, TX. It only took a few months until she developed a serious relationship with her yoga practice, which led her down the path of taking any & all classes available. She eventually found herself in an intensive Power Yoga teacher training program. She attained a certificate of completion in December 1998. Shortly after, she attended another intensive, year long teacher training program at a well known yoga school based in Austin, TX. There, she attained another certificate of completion in June of 2001. Since then, she has gone through numerous teacher trainings and studied with many world-renowned teachers. She also leads Yoga Alliance approved teacher trainings for other prospective yoga teachers.
Kara's yoga classes are based on vinyasa yoga, which links body movements with the breath along with focusing on strength, alignment, and balanced energy flow. Functional movement is also an important aspect of her classes and private training. She does this because life doesn’t just happen in one plane of motion, life happens in all planes of motion. Kara acknowledges the fact that people usually place more emphasis on one plane of motion (sagittal plane), so training to absorb and adapt to stress in all planes of motion will make your body more resilient to injury.
Her teaching style is fun, intuitive & will help students find hidden strengths while challenging them to reach beyond their perceived limitations.
