Cheryl has more than 17 years professionally working as a massage therapist.
Interest in massage started for Cheryl when she was a little girl walking on her dad’s back, rubbing people’s shoulders, and being absolutely fascinated when her mother used to practice reflexology on her as she grew up. Massage Therapy felt like the most natural choice and she still remembers that moment in 2000 attending Pennsylvania Institute of Massage Therapy with her first professional massage knowing she was doing exactly what she was meant to do.
Cheryl has worked in a wide variety of settings over the years, including 8+ years at a renowned drug and alcohol rehab working with clients from all over the world recover from injuries, accidents, pain medicine and drug addiction through massage. In 2008 Cheryl felt another calling towards Costa Rica and Costa Rica Institute of Massage Therapy where she trained under 17 different instructors and later returned to teach.
Cheryl’s dream of being a massage therapist also included the freedom of being able to travel anywhere and ‘massage on a tropical island’. While this isn’t an island, Samara is Cheryl’s own paradise and she is so happy to help people feel better in their bodies while enjoying life in this peaceful town.
Cheryl also has over 500 hours as a yoga teacher including yin yoga which she finds to be truly restorative for her clients.
Massages with Cheryl are based upon her clients specific needs, she believes it’s important to allow her fingers to listen to your tissues and most sessions are intuitively led and may include the following modalities: Swedish Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Headache Treatments, CranioSacral, Reflexology, Deep Tissue, Aromatherapy, Myofascial Release, Stretching, Assisted Yoga, Oncology Massage, Thai Massage, and Reiki.
