Healing Dialogue and Action

Healing Dialogue and Action brings together families of murder victims together with families of youth who have been tried as adults and given adult prison terms. They are two groups that every rule says should never meet; every convention asserts have nothing in common, and for whom the criminal justice system enforces the belief that they have only opposing interests. Healing Dialogue and Action (HDA) starts with the idea that families of victims and families of offenders have experienced loss, violence, trauma, disenfranchisement, and being voiceless in a system that affects their lives, and those experiences harm people emotionally and physically. Our model is grounded in the concept that both personal interaction and the opportunity to act for the greater good through advocacy create pathways of healing.
