Sport and Recreation programming for Iowans with physical disabilities

According to government figures over 100,000 Iowa residents between Under the age of 64 have some form of physical disability. According to USA Paralympics less then 10% of people with a physical disability participate in daily physical activity. According to the 2006 Chartbook 35.2% of Iowa’s physically disabled population reports being in fair to poor health compared with only 5.9% of Iowan’s living without a physical disability. We all know the positive correlation between exercise and quality of life. It is because of all these statistics that the Iowa Sports Foundation is starting a new program, Adaptive Sports Iowa.
