Although clinical practice is her ultimate passion, Dr. Jennifer M Fabre’s research contributes to understanding the effectiveness of an evidence-based falls prevention program in minority and lower socio-economic communities and establishing a measure of gait assessment that is sensitive to change in response to a falls prevention program. Dr. Fabre co-created, validated and holds copyright to the Comprehensive Falls Risk Screening Instrument (CFRSI), which was published in 2010. Currently, the research line has provided falls risk screenings to over 1200 senior adults, including a wide demographic of ethnicities, income, and education level across the nation. She actively promotes her research focus through national professional organizations and disseminates this established line of research as co-author on numerous peer-reviewed publications in efforts to lay the groundwork for falls prevention research. Specifically, she plans to develop capacity by employing the proposed outcomes to enhance literature and evidence-based practice measures over the next several years in preparation for future translational and additional inter-institutional research projects that address the unprecedented needs of the underserved population. She received her Ph.D. from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA in Kinesiology.
