The Prairie Dance Alliance of Southwestern Minnesota is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of education in the art of dance.




The Goals of the Prairie Dance Alliance are:

● To produce 'The Nutcracker' or 'Babes in Toyland' or other production as a joint community biennial event. This project involves professional principals dancers, regional choreography, dancers from regional studios, and the technical theater expertise of people living in the region.

● To continue to organize and manage an annual Summer Dance Camp Workshop, which provides students from the region exposure to professional dance instructors and a variety of dance art forms.

● To serve as a fiscal agent for individual dancers or groups who wish to engage in fundraising for their dance activities.

● To sponsor dance performances by touring artists or troupes for the general public.

● To sponsor artists-in-residency programs for area schools, thus creating the opportunity to expose dance to all children.


The Prairie Dance Alliance Serves:

● Area Students of Dance - by highlighting the talent of youth in southwestern Minnesota.

● The Community - by providing opportunities to experience high quality dance performances locally.


The Prairie Dance Alliance Board

The Prairie Dance Alliance (PDA) Board of Directors is comprised of 15-20 hard-working members who volunteer their time, energy, and talents towards the goals of the organization in promoting education in the art of dance.

Board members reside in or near many communities in the Marshall, Minnesota area including: Marshall, Lynd, Minneota, Cottonwood, and Tracy.

In addition to attending monthly meetings, each board member is also active in at least two of the following committees:

● Membership - responsible for planning, coordination, and execution of Annual Membership Drive.

● Grants - responsible for research and communication of available grants to individual dancers and planning and execution of grant applications and completion of final grant reports for the organization.

● Production - responsible for overall planning and coordination of PDA productions, including budget and identification of needs.

● Publicity - responsible for planning and execution of promotional opportunities, including building relationships with newspapers, preparation of publicity and promotional items, and submission for print.

● Fundraising - responsible for planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising for area dancers and PDA activities.

● Properties - responsible for overall management of PDA set pieces and equipment, inventorying items, and making items available to other organizations for a rental fee.

● Dance Camp - responsible for planning, coordination, and execution of annual Dance Camp activities.

● Costumes - responsible for overall management of PDA costumes and small props, inventorying items, and making items available to other organizations for a rental fee.

● Sponsorship - responsible for planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising and sponsorship for the production.
