Set up in 2014, it aims to help sisters appreciate a healthy lifestyle as part of their Deen.

Muslims must take care of their spiritual, emotional and physical health. Our bodies are given to us by Allah (SWT) as a trust and should therefore not be neglected or abused but maintained in good health. Diet and nutrition plays a big part in this but to truly look after oneself, exercise and regular activity should be incorporated into ones lifestyle.

After all, in order to fulfil three of the five pillars of Islam, a Muslim is required to be of good health; the performance of the five daily prayers, fasting in the month of Ramadan and the performance of Hajj all require a great physical effort.

But staying healthy for our religious calling is not the only concern we should have. Coronary heart diseases are the number one killer in the UK, causing almost 74.000 deaths each year. Experts say that the majority of these deaths can be prevented by leading healthy lifestyles such as eating a clean diet and exercising.

Other lifestyle diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and some cancers can also all be prevented by implementing small changes in your daily routine.

The Healthy Hijab aims to provide sisters with enough knowledge and confidence to be able to maintain a good health in their daily activities and through any of our programmes, gain an abundance of benefits which will enrich their lives and Deen,
