I started making holistic remedies for my own dogs awhile back because I hated giving them chemicals that they didn’t really need. My friends started asking about what I was using that made my dogs smell so nice. I told them that I was tired of using chemicals on my dogs. Period. When I was young, my mother used to soak bandannas in warm water with essential oils, let them dry and tie them around my dogs’ neck and repeat every couple of weeks. She used mixes of cedar wood and eucalyptus pure essential oils. That sparked an interest and I started researching different oils and their uses along with speaking to holistic vets about what oils were best for my dogs. I found with the proper blends, I could make something that would prevent the fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, gnats and other pests that my dogs could get being outdoors a lot. Now my pups play in the yard and and visit the park without any problems using with these oil blends. I have stopped using the flea and tick medications over a year ago and have been applying my own blend, which I call “Buddy’s Flea & Tick Remedy” twice a month to all my pups and to date we have not seen any signs of fleas or ticks and they all sleep in bed with us. Then my friends asked me if I could make some for them too. I started sending it to my favorite animal shelters and within a year, it had made its way across the country and everyone was telling me how well it worked and they wanted more. Needless to say, it got so expensive that I had to start selling it. Well, then became obvious that a legal company needed to be started and that is how BuddyDogShop, LLC. became legitimate.

By the way, Buddy, my Boxer/Great Dane is the face of this company and it he is the inspiration. From rags to riches, or so to speak...A shelter dog from Delaware County SPCA to the beneficiary of what will hopefully be a well known company someday. Yes, if something happens to me, Buddy and his furry siblings gets it all!

Now about the products, The 100% pure essential oils in my very own special blend are eucalyptus, rosemary, cedar wood, clove bud, geranium, lemongrass and pure avocado oil as a base. Avocado oil contains Omega 3 acids, which is a great topical application on dogs. Іt contains vitamins A,D and E – aiding in healing dry and itchy skіn. Іt also increases the production of skin cell renewal. Avocado oil is good for skin irritation due to dermatitis, as it effectively penetrates the skin, and helps to keep the dog's skin well moisturized. Avocado oil helps to heal skin wounds quickly as well. This is the main reason I chose this base for my blends.

This product is not guaranteed to work on all dogs. Some dogs have different reactions and can show signs of displeasure so always test the oil with just a drop on the shoulder blades over the first 24 hours to make sure there is no adverse reaction. The amounts that should be used really vary with each dog. To start, I recommend using 3 drops on the shoulder blades and 3 drops above the tail 2x a month for a 50 lb dog and see how they react to it. If you find no itching at all and no irritation, then it may be the target dose. Buddy is 80 lbs. and I generally give him 4 drops on both spots 2x a month because he is a little heavier and he loves to roll in the grass. Little Rusty who is only 15 lbs. generally gets 2 drops in both spots 2x a month and that seems to work well with her. As for the spray for in between applications, just a spray in the same general area will work best. If your pet is going out into higher grass or wooded areas, maybe a spray on their under carriage would work as well (avoid contact with genital areas). Keeps in mind that depending on activity and playtime and especially after baths, these products may be used more often than the standard flea medication because it is all natural. Test it out and see what works best for your pet.

Warning: If your dog is experiencing an irritation or a rash, never use water to “wash off oils” this will enhance the effect. You can use a V-6 (or high quality vegetable or coconut oil) directly on site of application or irritation that will dilute the effect and soothe. Use wisely. Please email me if you have questions or concerns and I will be happy to assist. Thank you for choosing Buddy’s Flea and Tick Remedy and for making the right decision to put your best friend on a holistic alternative.
