Dance Theatre of Harlem’s core mission revolves around its School, its Company and its Education and Outreach Programs. Now in its fifth decade, DTH is an acclaimed institution with an extraordinary legacy of providing opportunities for creative expression that continues to set standards in the performing arts. Currently, DTH is focused on developing new programs that will help guide Arthur Mitchell’s vision into 50 more years of artistic excellence: A whole dancer curriculum serves over 500 students at the DTH School preparing them to excel both on and off the stage; the DTH Ensemble comprised of young dancers, that will seed the company, have impacted over 114,000 audience members and students across the U.S. through their Dance for America Tour; Harlem Dance Works 2.0, a choreographic and audience development laboratory is underway building new repertoire for the soon-to-be re-launched company, and numerous arts education programs captivate thousands of young minds in innovative ways in NYC and surround schools.
