Pole today is practiced by both male and females alike and is a fusion of Chinese pole, which dates back to before the 12th century, with circus performers using moves like the(Flag), Indian Pole, dating back to over 800 years and originating In Maharashtra by wrestlers in training. "Malla" wrestler and "khamb" of pole or 'Mallakhamb'. Other circus based Dutch and French Pole and exotic style, from various international influences, which date back to Ancient times, where the Goddess of love Inanna , was said to have danced and removed one item of clothing or jewellery at each of the seven gates that she passed on her way to find her lover Damouz.
