Douglas Rec Center




The goal of the Douglas Recreation Center is to offer an opportunity for individuals to pursue quality leisure time activities. With tax dollars provided, and supplemented by fees and charges, the recreation division has something for all residents and visitors.

ACTIVITY AREAS:

GYMNASIUMS:
A Photo I.D. is required to use the gyms or check out any recreation equipment. NO HANGING ON RIMS. Participants must wear non marking sole shoes.

WEIGHT AND CARDIO ROOM
Anyone using the weight/cardio room must sign in at the front desk. A Photo I.D. is required . 8th Grade & below must be accompanied by an adult 18 yrs or older at all times. Cardio room is for adults 18 years and older.

POOL
Please check our Pool Photos for the monthly schedule.

A Photo ID is required and participants must sign in at front desk . Swimming will not be permitted by persons having open sores, infections, and or any infectious disease. (planter warts, athletes foot, pinkeye, ring worm,etc.)
No running, dunking, splashing or other harmful acts of horseplay will be tolerated in the pool area. You may rent towels for .25 cents. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult in the pool. The pool is closed during athletic events. Please call ahead on availability.

RACQUETBALL AND WALLEYBALL COURTS
There are two racquetball courts. Court #1 may be used to play Walleyball. A Photo I.D. is required to use the courts or equipment. Eye protection is required. Reservations need to be made on a daily basis in one hour increments. You cannot reserve days in advance. If you have a court reserved, and do not show up after fifteen minutes of reserved time, the courts may be reserved by someone else.


TENNIS COURTS
Recreation Center: Available when building is open.
Middle School: Available anytime
Keith Rider Park: Available anytime

LOCKER ROOMS
Both men’s and women’s locker rooms are available to participants with Photo I.D’s. Participants must provide their own lock and take it with them when they leave. Do not leave articles unattended. Locker rooms will be closed during athletic events. Please call ahead on availability.



BUILDING RULES:

SHOE POLICY
In order to keep the floors looking nice, and to keep equipment in good working order
1)All shoes worn by participants must be non marking soles.

ANIMAL POLICY
No pets allowed with the exception of service animals.

HACKEY SACS
Hackey sacs may be played in the gym, racquetball courts or outside only.

RADIOS, TAPE AND DISC PLAYERS
Radios, tape and disc players are allowed, but will be strictly monitored. If music is found to be offensive by any staff member or patron, the person responsible will be asked to turn off the player or replace the music. We are not responsible for lost, broken or stolen items.

SMOKING
The following rule is in accordance with CCSD#1. Tobacco use in any form is NOT allowed on school district property at any time.

ROLLER BLADING/BICYCLES
Absolutely no rollerblading , Heelys or bicycles are not allowed in any school district building.

POOL RULES
A Photo I.D. is required for access into the pool.
All non-swimmers and children under 8 years of age must be accompanied by an adult (18 & older) in the water at all times.
No running, dunking or horseplay allowed.
For safety sake, masks, water wings and flotation devices are not allowed during open swim. Children will be allowed to wear lifejackets with adult in the shallow water. (1 adult to 3 children)
No street shoes on deck.
Shower before entering pool area
Persons suffering from a communicable disease or under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be allowed to use the facility.
Directions from lifeguards are to be followed at all times.
No jumping or diving into shallow end of pool.
No cell phone usage in the locker rooms.
No food or drink on deck or locker rooms.

DIVING BOARD RULES
As a safety precaution, before diving, divers must pass a swim test.
One person on the diving board at a time.
No floatation devices or toys allowed on diving board.
Dive or jump off the board and swim to the side with a ladder.
Parents may not accompany children on the board or catch children from in the water.
Maximum of one bounce on the board.



BUILDING USAGE SCHOOL DISTRICT FACILITIES:

To reserve any school facility , you must go to the Recreation Center office or call 358-4231.

All functions must have a sufficient number of sponsors or supervisors on duty to supervise their group.

There is a charge to reserve facilities and a $200 key/damage deposit.

Areas may be reserved up to 3 months prior to date of usage with the exception of the Recreation Center Gymnasiums and the HS Auditorium. The Gymnasiums may not be reserved until after April 1st, and the Auditorium may not be reserved until after June 1st.
