I believe, in life, so many of us spend our time searching for ways to increase our self-esteem because we are never truly given the chance to blossom and behold our true worth from a young age. We realise our needs to be liked, to fit in, to be an important and successful person through our jobs, our possessions, and of course our appearance. Absolutely appropriate, is this need for love, success and looking our best. However many, take this need too far. Searching for our needs to be met by overworking, trying to please others, and of course doing what ever it takes to be a success.
I do believe, having a high self esteem is important for a well lived life. However, we need to ensure that we are pleasing ourselves and not just trying to soley seek approval from our friends, or family. There is always going to be more we can do, be or have. The true path of happiness and healthy self esteem lyes in embracing who we are, and realising that our best may be different for another person.
The imperative philosophy of Now by sml is to embrace our own uniqueness, to consciously decide what happiness is for us (whether that be money, or mulling about on a daily basis), and to strive to live our lives knowing that we are living them on purpose, because we are following our own truth.
