I am extremely excited to share these amazing products with each and everyone one of you. Before I jump into why I believe Beautycounter is the bomb, let me first share a bit of my story.
Health and living a healthy life style has always been a number one priority in my life. I’m a fitness enthusiast, I love food and I eat relatively healthy. I believe in fuelling my body, and of course indulging once in a while!
For the longest time, I never thought about what I was putting on my skin. Did you know, our skin is the biggest organ on our body? It absorbs 60% of what we put on it and it only take 26 seconds for the chemicals in our personal care products to enter our bloodstream. When I discovered this, I panicked but really did not know what was safe. The only thing that I knew was dangerous was “Parabens”. So I started avoiding that particular ingredient.
Then in 2013, I became a Mom and my journey towards healthier choices intensified. I wanted to find healthier products not only for myself but for my child and my entire family. I eliminated as much dangerous chemicals as I could from our cleaning regime, started making our own lotions and creams and so on. Even with all my efforts, my first born had very bad eczema and would often break out in hives all over his legs. We knew the products we were using, even though they were supposed to be formulated for sensitive skin, only made his eczema flare up even more. In 2016, we were blessed with a third child. But again, despite our best efforts we discovered that she is intolerant to both dairy and soy and also has eczema.
Researching and trying to find “safe” products can be very time consuming and confusing. It can also be very challenging when some companies withhold their ingredient lists. Not too long ago, I downloaded an app that told me how much toxicity was in my bathroom products and was surprised to find out that many were rated at a 9 or 10! This baffled me! Even products that were deemed natural and pure had higher ratings than I anticipated. So thus, I found myself questioning how this is acceptable. How can there be such a lack for regulations in our beauty industry. Does no one care for our general health and well-being?
About a year ago, a teaching colleague of mine introduced me to a brand that finally puts our health first. Beauty is a 1 billion dollar industry and they have free reign to use just about anything in our cosmetics. The harmful effects they have to our health is reason for concern. I didn’t want to use these ingredients on my children, or myself. The brand is Beautycounter and they have done the homework and continuously continue to do so for you. And this is why I felt the need to become a consultant to share this information with you.
They have only been in Canada for a year now and my friend has asked me to join her team.
