Sooyang Do Martial Art - Bridge of Don Summerhill & Portlethen

Sooyang Do training enables the participant to learn valuable self defence skills, get fit and de stress in a safe and friendly environment.

Sooyang Do is specifically designed to be suitable for all ages (5 upwards) and for all ability levels. No previous martial arts experience is necessary and the main requirement is enthusiasm.

Each belt level has a formal syllabus which must be learned to enable the student to progress to the next level. The technical progress of each student is monitored by way of grading events (belt examinations) which are held every three months and students must train on average twice per week to be eligible for grading.

All of our Instructors hold up to date First Aid certification, PVG certification and Public Liability Insurance and also regularly attend additional third party coaching sessions to continually improve their coaching skills and to reinforce their awareness of issues such as those surrounding the teaching of children and vulnerable adults.

The individual and collective dedication of our instructors has led us to being the first martial arts organisation to be awarded ENHANCED CLUBCAP accreditation from Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Council, which reinforces our standing as a responsibly and scrupulously run organisation.

Since the founding of Sooyang Do by Master Bruce Wood in 2003 it has become firmly established as the most popular martial art in the North East with around 1000 active participants and various classes being run throughout Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
