CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
3 Year old Ballet
Creative movement places an emphasis on motor skills development, special awareness and moving with the music with preschool age ballet vocabulary. The children learn to work in groups, listen and follow directions and most importantly discover movement possibilities in their own bodies.

4 & 5 Year old Ballet
The class encourages the continued development of motor skills, coordination exercises & expanding on the basic ballet vocabulary and introduces the students to a more structure ballet class by taking them through a variety of movements and barre work while building their ballet vocabulary, guided through proper warm-up, ballet barre work, stretching & strengthening exercises. This emphasis is on developing rhythm and coordination of movement while gaining a better understanding of the body.

Elementary Ballet
Elementary ballet is for students (6 years old – older) that have pervious training in creative movement, pre ballet or have no prior ballet experience. Thai class will cover all the movement concepts, ballet coordination development and musicality through movement. Basic ballet vocabulary, ballet barre and floor work and continuous development of dance movement coordination are introduced along with posture, physical alignment, strengthening and stretching exercises.

Intermediate Ballet
Intermediate level suited for students (8 years old – up) with varied dance backgrounds. Prior understanding of ballet at the basic/mid-level is required. Students should have a strong elementary level understanding of Ballet Techniques and Skill. Class for students with previous training. Dancers at this level will start class at the ballet barre to work on classical technique, executing combinations at different musical tempos and on different musical counts. They will work to build strength and learn how to put several steps together while smoothly transferring their weight and holding correct posture and body placement. They will also add new steps to their repertoire, moving beyond the Beginning Level. Center work will consist of a combination, jumps and pirouette preparations and turns. Corner work will consist of jump, various traveling combinations, which are more advanced than at the Beginning Level, and kept in time to the music. Dancers will learn formations and stage placement. It is highly recommended that Intermediate Level dancers must have at least 3 years experience and take at least one other class per week.

Advanced Ballet
Dancers (10 years old – up) at this level will start class at the ballet barre to work on classical technique, executing combinations at different musical tempos and on different musical counts. This class requires discipline and focus. They will build strength and learn how to put several steps together while smoothly transferring their weight and holding correct posture and body placement. Focus will be on building core strength. They will also add new steps to their repertoire, moving beyond the Intermediate Level. Center work will consist of a combination, jumps and multiple pirouette preparations and turns. Dancers will begin to work on attitude positions, corner work will consist of jump, and various traveling combinations kept in time to the music. Advanced Level dancers must have at least four years experience and have the instructor’s permission to register for the class. This class is fast pace with advanced choreography.

Pointe
This class is structured differently than a regular ballet class. Our pointe class is for dancers (10 years old – up) who are ready for pointe work. It will be up to the Director’s discretion to determine who is ready for this challenging class. Pointe requires students to have a full understanding of ballet at the advanced level, discipline, focus, strength and lots of hard work. Pointe is an extension of ballet. Without lots of pervious ballet training, students may not take this class. It is too dangerous and will lead to temporary and/or permanent injuries. Center and corner work focus on strengthening for future pointe steps through jumps, eleves, pirouettes, other turns, and bourree combinations. Strength in the feet and legs is the most important. Dancers enrolled in this class are required to take the advanced ballet class for additional ballet class a week.

4 & 5 Year old Tap
This tap class are offered to students ages 4 & 5 and focus on rhythm, musicality and timing. All classes begin with an energetic warm-up at the barre, across the floor exercises and combinations. This class serves as an introduction to tap dance for children. A proper foundation of tap technique is established through barre exercises, creative movement and center floor studies.

Elementary Tap
Our beginner students (6 years old – older) explore the fundamental steps of tap dance, learn tap terminology and the ability to maintain correct body placement. Class is devoted to tap technique, teaching simple rhythms, dancing to the beat of the music and staying together as a group and continuation of components and skills learned in Pre-Tap. The class includes added emphasis on technique, body placement, terminology and further development of simple rhythms.

Intermediate Tap
Intermediate classes further develop skills, focusing on clarity of sounds and increasing speed as well as dynamics and musicality. Students (8 years old – older) continue to further develop the skills learned in elementary tap. Increased emphasis will be placed on proper technique, execution and terminology. This tap class serves as a transition level between traditional tap styles and rhythm tap. Focus is on clarity of sounds and increasing speed. Previous tap training is required. In this class, focus is on clarity of sounds, creating and understanding rhythms, increasing speed and developing style.

Advanced Tap
Our advanced tap dancers (10 years old – older) are challenged through improvisational exercises, intricate rhythms and footwork. In this class, focus is on clarity of sounds, creating and understanding rhythms, increasing speed and developing style. Many years of technical previous training required. Includes intricate rhythms and footwork for experienced tappers. Creativity is challenged through improvisational exercises. This class further develops the skills of advanced tap dancers at a fast pace level and advanced choreography. Placement by invitation and audition only.

4 & 5 year old jazz
Jazz class is fun in a energetic atmosphere. Classes begin with a warm-up with stresses technique, flexibility, coordination and strength, followed by progressions across the floor, center work and combinations.

Elementary Jazz
Elementary jazz students(6 years old – older) learn fundamental technical jazz steps and basic jazz vocabulary through across the floor exercises and simple combinations.

Intermediate Jazz
Intermediate jazz students(8 years old – older) focus on body placement and proper technique, stretching and development of skills. Elementary jazz training is strongly suggested before taking this class.

Advanced jazz
Our Advanced jazz class is fast pace with advanced choreography. This class emphasize quality of movement in addition to perfecting technique, flexibility, performance skills and varied styles. Must have ability/skill to Turn, jump, leap and kick. Students (10 years old – older) at this level are required to have completed many years of pervious jazz training.

Elementary Hip – Hop
This class is designed to students (6 years old – older) to introduce the Hip-Hop culture through the element of dance. The class begins with a basic warm-up to stretch and tone the body, followed by across the floor progressions, concluded with a fun and energetic routine. This class is an introduction for students who are either just starting out or have minimal hip-hop experience. Class includes a warm-up which concentrates on building stamina, improving strength and flexibility, body conditioning and rhythm isolations. Elementary level focuses on building a foundation of basic hip-hop movements, across the floor exercises and short combinations to today’s popular music.

Intermediate Hip – Hop:
Intermediate hip hop class is designed for students(8 years old – up) to the exhilarating world of hip hop dancing. It provides a structured method of learning various Hip Hop dance movements with focus on offering a new set of combinations. This intermediate class is for students who have developed a foundation of basic hip-hop movements and sequences from elementary hip hop. It places more emphasis on body conditioning and transitions. This class focuses on developing an ear for rhythms and exploring syncopation through the music and choreography. Students will be expected to learn and execute a series of challenging combinations throughout the year.

Advanced Hip – Hop:
Advanced Hip Hop for students (10 years old – older) focuses on rhythm, syncopation and stage presence. Derived from a combination of jazz funk and street jazz, this style of dance requires high energy, attention to detail and an understanding of complex rhythms. This class is fo Advanced dancers with a strong understanding and ability to perform traditional hip-hop movements. Students will continue to develop body strength, flexibility and stamina and will be challenged to learn and recall advanced choreography from week to week. An emphasis on core conditioning will also become a part of the warm-up.
