McPherson High School Wrestling Core Values

Sacrifice – You get out what you put in. Very few things in life happen by chance. It is Critical that a wrestler learn to sacrifice something of value in exchange for something considerably more valuable or important. The easier path is crowded, but the harder path is more rewarding.

Ambition – Anything can be attained, it is within your power to chase your dreams. The desire to achieve will drive the wrestler.

Commitment – We will be a wrestling family. It is necessary for all team members to feel a sincere obligation to the development of the whole as well as the individual. We are in this together, but it takes all of us.

Respect – It is a privilege to participate in athletics. MHS wrestlers will be expected to exercise courtesy, value, reverence, and regard toward all. It’s not what we do but who we are.

Integrity – We must exercise moral and ethical fiber, thus resulting in extraordinary character and honesty.

Self-Control – We are responsible for our actions. Restraint must be applied over one’s impulses, emotions, and desires.

Hard Work - To put forth your best effort, challenge yourself to do more each and every day. Resist complacency and expect more out of yourself than anyone else.
