LMT, Rolf-method practitioner, Nora Skeele offering Structural Integration and Massage Therapy

Bodywork studio specializing in the Rolf-method of Structural Integration, Connective Tissue Massage, and Relaxation Massage

Structural Integration (SI) was developed over the course of 40 years by Ida P. Rolf, a biochemist from New York. Dr. Rolf focused on the role of the fascia, a form of connective tissue that envelops all muscle groups, allowing them to move freely in relation to each other and often across several joints. When an injury occurs, the fascia tightens around that injury, somewhat like a cast or band-aid. Even after the injury heals, the fascia stays in that rigid position, often causing chronic pain and discomfort. Structural Integration is a systematic approach that stretches and opens the fascia, correcting misalignment and restoring balance throughout the whole body. The client participates with the practitioner the whole session through small, slow movements. S.I. considers physical structure, gravity, and individual habits (i.e., work related posture and physical activities) to bring a person into his/her vertical alignment. The S.I. series is organized into 10 sessions. Each session builds upon the next, and is designed to release different regions of the body under strain and re-educate the body to move freely and easily. SI can allow the body to feel more balanced in gravity, lighter, and free of chronic pain. S.I. can benefit people of all ages including teenagers, children, and seniors. Individual sessions are also available.

Clients have reported:
-Decrease in pain and discomfort
-Increased circulation, hydration, breathing
-Increased confidence
-Increased athletic performance
-Greater awareness of their bodies and emotions
-Better posture
-Increased efficiency of movement
-Weight loss
-Decrease in chronic stress and anxiety
-Increase in energy

Complimenatry to Structural Integration, I offer Connective Tissue Therapy massage (CTT). This style of massage addresses acute pain, injuries, rehab, posture, and relaxation. It is recommended for individuals who experience acute pain and tension, are involved in high amounts of physical activity such as athletes, fishermen, laborers and patients who have sustained physical injuries or surgeries. Connective tissue or Myofacial tissue is prone to getting tight and restricting the muscles which is the cause of many muscular pains and issues. CTT massage is designed to open up these tissues. It uses deep, slow manipulations of the connective tissue, loading it with a constant force and motion until tissue release occurs. It increases blood flow to the muscles, improves lymphatic drainage, increases range of motion in joints, and reduces pain. It is well suited to single sessions and can be a great addition to your normal wellness routine. Relieve your sore body with this deeply relaxing CTT massage.

Relaxation Massage: This full body massage combines Swedish massage, a popular style aimed at reducing stress and promoting relaxation, Nuero-muscular therapy; pressure on high tension Trigger Points, and Connective Tissue Therapy; slow and controlled strokes designed to relieve severe tension in the muscles and connective tissue that cause postural issues and pain. This massage is designed to put your nervous system at ease, aid in circulation, and stimulate the lymphatic system. It also provides oxygen to the bloodstream, which helps to release toxins that build up in the muscles. Enjoy this deeply relaxing massage!
