Come and share with me the ancient practice of yoga and its many wonderful healing and transformative tools. Vinyasa flow, yin, pranayama and meditation.
From the Brisbane River to the mat! I am a competitive rower and have seen firsthand how yoga can balance the body and enhance competitive sport. Originally from England I first visited the shores of Australia in 1990 whilst backpacking and met an Australian man, whom I eventually married. We then spent a decade living in Bangkok, Thailand embracing the Buddhist way of life. Arriving back in Australia was a stressful time with three young girls and no maid and driver which our family was used to and the girls immersing themselves into elite competitive sports of gymnastics, triathlon and rowing. Stress and anxiety was the name of the game at this time.
In 2014 I threw myself into a journey of self-discovery and self-healing attending a yoga teacher training at Radiant Light for a whole year which completely changed my life. I had no intensions on becoming a teacher but only to immerse myself further into the teachings of yoga. I was coaxed me into giving a free community class and from that moment knew this was my purpose. I will be forever grateful for the sacred teachings of yoga giving me the tools to be positive with self-acceptance and deeper levels of self-understanding.
I am excited to put my oars to one side and bring to my class an atmosphere of trust and caring with the awareness of energy and movement. Inspired by the strength and flexibility, breath awareness, still and present mind yoga have brought to my life. In my class the focus will be to keep the mind completely present and emphasis on smooth transitions as we move from pose to pose being led by the breath. The journey begins with an attitude of self-acceptance and to find the balance between the self-effort and surrender, stability and fluidity, strength and flexibility.
My goal is to bring yoga to the wider community, especially men and introduce yoga, pranayama and meditation as a way of life to all.
To continue regular training and immerse myself further into the ancient practice of yoga.
