The building served the upper County as a bar and hotel through the 1930's. George and Marie Urbanc began construction of the REX in May of 1908 and completed it in August the same year. The sandstone block was quarried locally and the lumber milled by the Teanaway Lumber company. George's son, Andy Urbanc, converted the property to an automotive garage in the mid 1930's which shaped its later roll as a NAPA store and garage from the early 1960's through 2004. The Bull Durham mural was painted in the early 1900's and restored to its present form in the 1980's. In 2009 Physical Therapist Craig Pigeon bought and renovated the Historic Bull Durham Building in downtown Cle Elum, WA and turned it into a Premier Physical Therapy Facility and Fitness Center.
