The son of a Glasgow coalman,William 'Willie' Sheret is a Scottish Showjumping legend.
Originally from Glasgow, he's been involved in showjumping for over 70 years, first competing when he was 13 years of age.

His career developed when he represented the army throughout Europe just after WWII. From there he went on to reach a career high of winning the Foxhunter Championship in 1975 at the Horse of the Year Show on St Corry and he has trained a number of horses that have gone on to compete at the Olympic Games. He continued to show jump until he was 70 years of age and is now a highly respected coach, teaching all over the UK.

Willie's dedication and commitment was recognised by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2005 when he was awarded an MBE for Service to Showjumping in Scotland. He is also the Honorary Vice President of the British Showjumping’s Scottish Branch.

Willie's friendly, empowering teaching style has allowed literally hundreds of show jumpers, young and old, novice and experienced, to develop their talents way beyond their expectations.

Now 87, he lives in the Aberdeenshire countryside with his son David and his two dogs, Jax and Corry. He has no plans whatsoever to retire.
