Every day we are exposed to an array of harmful chemicals and hidden additives in the foods that we eat, the products that we use to clean our homes, and in our skincare routine. Emily’s Handmade Soaps creates nature-inspired soaps using sustainable, cruelty-free ingredients to responsibly enhance your daily bathing ritual. We use oils, butters, earth clays, and other botanical ingredients to create nurturing skin care that you can feel good about bringing into your home.

I’m Emily, owner and soap maker at Emily’s Handmade Soaps, located in the coastal gem of Des Moines, Washington. The inspiration to turn my hobby into a business started while I was enjoying my time as a stay at home mom to the two most amazing kids in the world (alright, I may be a little bit biased!). My son has always had sensitive skin, so searching for a product that would ease some of his discomfort became quite a task. When I took up soap making I was relieved and pleased that I could create soaps that were free of detergents and needless chemicals that could benefit those that I love the most.

With hundreds of batches of soap under my belt, I have found so many ways to add artistic touches and natural elements to my soaps, like:

• Natural colorants (i.e. indigo, cocoa powder, and clays)
• Essential oils and high-quality, phthalate-free fragrances
• Alternative liquids (i.e. aloe juice, coconut milk, & almond milk)
• Botanical additives (i.e. oatmeal, raspberry seeds & coffee grounds)

While the purpose of soap is to clean you, I make soaps inspired by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest that are lovely to look at, sensational to smell, and luxurious to use.
