Professional Makeup Artist
Hello and thank you for stopping by! My name is Sheena Palmer, hence the "SP" in SP Makeup Artistry. I am a professional makeup artist located in Humboldt, TN.
Many ask me how I got started in makeup and I always answer, "It was an accident of sorts." My love for makeup developed just like most girls did as they patiently watched their mothers, grandmothers, and older sisters put on their signature lipstick for a more polished look. And just like most girls in their preteens, I snuck my mom's makeup from time to time to look more "grown" for the school dances...and the boys.
However, after my cousin begged me to start a MySpace account in 2008, (Don't front on MySpace. You know it was everything with the personalized pages and the drama of who was in your top list of friends.) that is when I came upon an amazing makeup artist, who went by the moniker "Queen of Blending". I was in complete awe of all the looks that she created. So much so, that I would imitate the looks. They weren't that great in the beginning. Thank God for growth.
Her art overwhelmed me at first, until she talked about how she wasn't as artistically inclined like I thought one had to be when pursuing this type of artistry. Realizing that I didn't have to know how to paint, sketch, or draw further gave me the confidence to hone my skills to be a makeup artist. However, it was not until unfortunate circumstances that forced me to start my business in October 2012 as a means to supplement my income from a part time job.
Thankfully, I had plenty of friends and family to be my makeup "guinea pigs", which allowed me to become more knowledgeable about different skin tones, textures, conditions, face & eye shapes that were unlike my own. Fast forward to the present where I have had the privilege to be the makeup artist for numerous weddings, local fashion shows & photo shoots, pageants, proms, and everything in between. I have clients of all ages, race, and gender. My makeup style is very adaptable. However, aesthetically, I specialize in polished, clean looks.
