We Chase the Dream not the Competition

Sensei Alonzo L. Richardson holds a 4th degree black belt in the style of Karate. The name of the karate is called Jiy-u-sei-shin-do. This means way of the free spirit. He learned Karate in Houston, Texas under the direction of Mr. Lonnie Posey, who held a 4th degree black belt in Tae kown do and 2nd degrees in Aikido and Tang soo do. As Sensei Richardson advanced in his skill he expanded his art form learning some of Kickboxing and Wing Chung Kung Fu instructed by Mike Altman in Houston. Mr. Richardson has been actively involved with Karate for 23 years and has been teaching for a total of 14 years. He has taught children and adults in Houston, Beaumont, Sugar Land, Kendelton, El Campo (Boys and Girls Club), Wharton (Boys and Girls Club), Louise, Victoria and Palacios (Boys and Girls Club). For the past 5 years he has been living his dream teaching at our current location in El Campo.
Sensei Richardson has had many Martial arts influences on and off the screen. Some of his idols are but not limited to Bruce Lee, Billy jack, Chuck Norris, Billy Blanks, Jean Claude Van Dam, Taimak Guarriello, Jim Kelly, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Michael White, Wesley Snipes, Linda Denley, Cynthia Rothrock, Bro Jesse, Gerald Jenkins, and Jay Kilgore. He became interested in Karate at a young age admiring the way that the hero defended their selves and protected their families with honor and integrity. He quickly emulated the characters in the movies standing up for family, freedom and justice within the community, and reaching out to adults and children of all ages. This is why he chose the name Richardson Family Karate. He believes true strength is inside of oneself and family. Although all of the Richardson Family Karate philosophies are important, Mr. Richardson is a firm believer that nothing is impossible to a willing mind.

Sensei Richardson has performed in demonstrations at the Houston Rockets and Comets half time show, Astroworld, Sharps Town Mall; for the presentation of the movie ‘Side Kick’ starring Chuck Norris, Kroger’s March of Dime fund raiser in Houston, Conroe martial arts tournament in Conroe, Youth day at the park in Lack Jackson, June teen celebration at Willie Bell park in El Campo, El Campo and Wharton Boys and Girls Club fundraisers banquet, El Campo Christmas mall and Parade. The Palacios Boys and Girls Club talent show and Edna at the Zen Martial Arts tournament.

Sensei Richardson has competed in tournaments in Houston and Victoria. He has also referred, judged and put on tournaments. He encourages his students to participate, however does not make it mandatory.

Sensei Richardson has proudly awarded Black belts to 24 Students. 4 of the students whom received their Black belts are his children. He has a special ceremony when a student receives their Black belt which brings forth his philosophy; ‘The Master and the Student are one. To become the Master, you must become the Student. When you become the Student, you will soon become the Master’.
